🏆 Key Talking Points

McLaren 1–2:
Lando Norris bounced back from his Canadian heartbreak with a commanding win, resisting early pressure from Oscar Piastri. This narrows the Aussie’s championship lead to just 15 points after 11 rounds – this fight is well and truly on!

Ferrari strong:
Leclerc delivered a clean drive for P3, while Hamilton equalled his best Ferrari finish in P4. A solid weekend for the Scuderia.

Mercedes struggles & Antonelli heartbreak:
Russell salvaged P5 for Mercedes after the team struggled for race pace. Rookie Antonelli was wiped out in a dramatic Lap 1 collision with Verstappen – a costly incident for both drivers.

Lawson impresses:
Another mature drive by Liam Lawson nets him P6 for Racing Bulls, outscoring Red Bull’s factory team yet again.

Big day for Bortoleto:
A breakthrough moment as Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto scored his first ever F1 points with a composed run to P8, while teammate Hulkenberg made up for his last-place quali with P9.

Ocon sneaks a point:
Esteban Ocon bagged the final point for Haas, finishing ahead of teammate Bearman.

Verstappen’s title blow:
Max Verstappen was eliminated on Lap 1 in a clash with Antonelli – a huge hit to his title hopes as he leaves Austria with zero points.

Williams woe:
Carlos Sainz didn’t even start after reliability gremlins on the formation lap. Alex Albon also failed to finish.

🏁 Championship Impact

  • Drivers: Piastri’s lead over Norris is now just 15 points.

  • Teams: McLaren strengthens its position at the top with a big double podium.

  • Red Bull under pressure: Verstappen’s DNF and Tsunoda’s lowly P16 mean their Constructors’ challenge is starting to slip away.
